Abstract
The Agreement on Cooperation on Aeronautical and Maritime Search and Rescue in the Arctic (SAR) is an international treaty concluded among the member states of the Arctic Council. It was implemented in May 2011 to coordinate international search and rescue coverage and response in the Arctic. The Agreement is legally binding for states - parties to the Agreement.
